My hesitation with getting another puppy was that I thought my husband wanted a male. For some the gender makes absolutely no difference at all and for us, it really doesn't either. But after our male boxer died last August, I was convinced that the only dog that would ever take his place would be a male.
It turns out that the old saying about making assumptions, the one that states, " when you assume you make an ass out of you and me" is around for a reason. Well, I did make an ass out of me, because as it turns out, he did not care if it was a male or not. This changes everything! I have been scouring shelters, adds and the internet in search of the perfect male to make my husband and our whole family happy, but nothing seems to feel like that perfect glass slipper fit. Yet, whenever I come across females they seem more like a fit for our family.
So now that I know that my husband is more than willing, in fact, wanting to have another female dog, it makes it that much easier!
